What is MyPeerPrep?
MyPeerPrep connects students and families with peer tutors for academic support. Tutors can offer paid sessions, community-service tutoring at no tutoring fee, or both.
How can I understand a tutor’s qualifications?
Start with the tutor’s subjects, experience, teaching approach, and profile review information. Applications are reviewed before a profile is approved. If you have a question about a particular course or qualification, include it in your request so it can be confirmed.
Which subjects can I get help with?
Browse the directory for the subjects tutors actually list, including math, English, science, history, and test preparation. If your course is missing, ask for help finding a tutor and tell us what you need.
Do I have to pay for tutoring?
You can look for community-service tutoring, paid tutoring, or either. Community-service sessions have no tutoring fee. For paid sessions, confirm the rate directly with the tutor before you meet. Submitting a request does not create a payment obligation; MyPeerPrep does not collect payment through this website.
How do I schedule a session?
Choose a tutor or submit a matching request. Once the fit is agreed, the family and tutor confirm the time, time zone, format, and any paid-session rate. A listed weekday or proposed time is not a confirmed appointment.
Are sessions online or in person?
It depends on the tutor. Use the format filter to find online tutoring, in-person support, or both. For in-person support, confirm the location and travel arrangements before agreeing to a session.
What if I can’t find the right tutor?
Tell us your subject, learning goals, preferred times, and tutoring preferences through Help me find a tutor. You can still request help when the directory has no match.

What qualifications do tutors need?
Tell us about your current education, subject knowledge, relevant courses, and experience explaining ideas to others. Applications are reviewed before publication. If you are unsure whether your background fits, contact us before applying. Test scores are optional.
How does community-service credit work?
Keep accurate records of the date, subject, and duration of each community-service session. MyPeerPrep can review supporting records, but your school or receiving organization decides whether the hours qualify. Check its requirements before relying on a session for credit.
Can I tutor more than one subject?
Yes. Include the subjects and course levels you are comfortable teaching, with relevant experience or coursework. Each listed subject should reflect what you can explain clearly and confidently.
What is expected of tutors?
Prepare for the learner’s goals, explain patiently, communicate clearly, and keep availability accurate. Help students understand and do their own work. Confirm the practical details before each session and let the family know promptly when something changes.
What can I charge for paid tutoring?
Propose your rate when you apply and agree on the actual price with the family before a session. This website does not set a universal tutor price, add a checkout fee, or process payments. Keep paid and community-service sessions distinct in your records.
How will families contact me?
Families can choose your profile and submit a tutoring request. The request is recorded for review and follow-up using the contact route approved for your profile. Keep your contact details current and respond to requests you receive.
Do I have to accept every request?
No. Let the family or administrator know whether the subject and timing work for you. Your listed availability is a starting point, and an appointment needs agreement from both sides.
